At the dawn of modernity in 17th-century Europe, an era of scientific discovery and distant colonisation, three men on horseback are tasked with transporting the portrait of the Infanta of Spain to her future husband, Louis XIV. The journey from Madrid to Versailles is long and difficult, and only the portrait will eventually find its way back to civilisation.
