Near Xiamen in China, a Chinese company is undertaking the construction of a residential replica of
the little tourist village of Cadaquès on the Costa Brava. Through the character of Tingting, whom we
follow both in China and in Catalonia, the film delves into the question of what constitutes the essence
of a village and of a people, and what can or cannot be exported when appearances are replicated.
