Privatisation of the federal stud farm, the implementation of a new national agricultural policy, and the construction in the town of Avenches of an enormous new national centre devoted exclusively to equestrian sports, are three very recent developments that have entirely upset the apple cart of Switzerland's normally well regulated equestrian world. This film introduces us to a few of the people whose living depends in one way or another on horses. From the various points of view expressed there emerges a clear picture of the great changes now taking place in relation to horses, that were once so important for both agricultural life and the military, and will soon be the exclusive concern of the private sector. This once mythical animal is about to become just another consumer item like any other.
