It was the screen adaptation of Ramuz' Deborence that brought filmmaker Francis Reusser and producer Jean-Marc Henchoz together in 1984. Twenty years later the filmmaker again meets his former producer. Henchoz now lives in France in a forest which suffered extensive storm damage. Reforesting it has become Henchoz' new purpose in life. He has almost entirely withdrawn from the cinema business. Henchoz hides behind the trees in his forest as if he wanted to sneak away from his portrait. He mentions his former activity as a producer only in passing. Reusser discovers in him the ambivalent behaviour patterns which used to characterise the producer in earlier days: his gruff and tender way of dealing with other people, for example. Reusser and co-director Emmanuelle de Riedmatten succeed in rekindling Henchoz' cinema once more, if only for fleeting moments, behind the trees of a forest.
