Two completely different new retirees embark on an adventure across Germany
on foot with a tent and sleeping bag to deal with the transition from
working life to retirement. The result is a humorously told road movie that
is about physical exertion and disputes between the protagonists, but also
about feelings of freedom, hospitality and the longing to break away from
everyday life.
The documentary “Thank you for your service” is a road movie. It deals with an important topic in Western culture in an unusual way: the transition from working life to retirement and how it comes to terms with it.
