Eighty-five-year-old Emil Frey lives in a dilapidated farmhouse in the midst of a new and modern housing development. The reason for the stark contrast in the Trübel district of Stäfa: Emil Frey refuses to leave his home, which was once part of his family's property. He takes legal action against the allocation imposed by the home owners. As long as the legal proceedings are in progress, the two worlds in Trübel clash: Emil Frey firmly settled in one, with the habit of burning his rubbish in his woodstove, and the new arrivals in the other, dreaming of an idyllic lifestyle in the country. The contrast is gripping not only due to the impressive images, but also because it raises questions: What exactly is home? What is eccentric? What is normal? Such questions are asked without offering an absolute answer.
