39-year-old Renate's world unravels when her sister inexplicably commits suicide. Then her boyfriend leaves her and begins an affair with Renate's business partner. Lost and emotional, Renate seeks help from a psychiatrist, and finds the understanding she badly needs. So much so, that she enters into a highly sexual affair with him. But when she discovers that he is sleeping with other patients too, she feels abused and has a nervous breakdown. Once over her initial shock, Renate takes the therapist to court for patient trust abuse, and starts to rebuild her life. Reichenbach's gripping psychological drama portrays a woman unhinged by betrayal and depression, but who manages to keep her dignity nonetheless.
