Gerald Metroz’ life changed drastically at the early age of two, when he was hit by a train, losing both of his legs, as his father, the train station director, helplessly looked on. The film takes us from the scene of the accident in a small Swiss town of Sembrancher, to the orthopaedic clinic in Germany’s Münster where Gerald Metroz takes his first steps with artificial legs. He had dreams of being a famous ice hockey player. Today he is a prominent and respected player agent. He understands that life is not a competition but that his future and happiness lies in his own hands. He has learned to accept the challenges in his life as they are. He no longer uses his artificial legs. He has chosen to be his real self over simulated appearance.
