Although Cyprus is one of the world's most popular holiday destinations, many visitors do not know that its people have endured great suffering for the last 30 years. Ever since 1974, when Cyprus was divided into Greek and Turkish sections, a wall runs through the former capital of Nikosia, separating its people and fostering prejudice and hatred. Ceschi's film explores how deeply this “wall of shame” has affected people and interviews a selection of people, both Greek and Turkish Cypriot, who are fighting to unite their country. The film explains the history behind the country's current political situation and is there as the people mobilise en masse in a series of demonstrations in favour of unification and change.
