On 30 May 2019, Melania was the victim of a homophobic attack on a bus in London. The attack went viral in the media around the world. She suggested to her friend Laura that they make a film together. Through contemporary correspondence, they explore trauma and healing. The poems of Cristina Peri Rossi, a Uruguayan poet who went into exile in the 1970s, permeate this story, placing Melania and Laura's quest for meaning within a broader history of exile and resistance.
