Andreoli’s film gives an insight into the everyday life of a group of Swiss soldiers and officers serving in the Swiss contingent of the Kosovo Force (KFOR), a NATO-led international peacekeeping force in Kosovo. There is Renzo, an Italian Swiss from Wetzikon, who enjoys military life and dreams of becoming an officer. Jonathan, a carpenter from a small village, just wants to do a good job and doesn’t put much stock in military conduct. Thomas, who had left the army, has now given up his teaching position at a school and put on his uniform again in order to offer assistance in Kosovo. Then there is Lukas, originally a baker and pastry chef from Thun, who after changing professions to become a security officer, is looking for a challenge now.
