In 2010, 154 wind turbines, each of which is 145 metres in height, will become an integral part of the landscape on the Scottish Shetland Islands. Despite the impending danger to the fragile environment, Viking Energy Ltd. wants to carry out a joint venture between Scottish & Southern Energy and the Shetland community. Great Britain is aiming to reduce its greenhouse-gas emissions by half by 2020 and therefore subsidises private companies that develop major projects in the area of renewable energies.
