“Coincidences have influenced my entire life”, says Ernst Scheidegger. The film looks into this network of pivotal encounters with people and key events. Ernst Scheidegger tells of how he grew up in Zurich during the war years and of his involvement in the resistance against the Nazis. He recalls his first contact with art and his friendship with Alberto Giacometti, his most important portraitist. During this time, he also photographed the artists' scene in Paris, where very personal shots were created. As of 1952, he worked for the “Magnum” agency as a photographer and travelled in the Arab world, as well as to India and the Far East. Today, Ernst Scheidegger is retired but continues to work as a visual designer.
