Twelve-year-old Floh tries to sleep, her father's rough coughing keeps her awake. The next day, her big brother Lukas is packing his military bag when Floh gets home dirty. As he helps her clean her pants, he notices her shoulder, which is full of burn marks. He immediately packs her things and tells his sister to go with him. She refuses. Luke leaves the house, only to return a short time later tormented by a guilty conscience. He lies down next to his little sister and in his presence Floh falls asleep. The next morning she wakes up alone.
