„Alafia – Health“: This is what many of the patients from the Saint Jean de Dieu hospital wish for one another. Located in the north of Benin, in the city of Tanguieta, people of most different religions, cultures and ethnic groups meet there. Everyone needs medical attention. Patients come from surrounding villages, as well as from neighbouring countries such as Togo, Niger, Burkina Faso and Niger. They may have to travel for several days to get to the hospital and travel by motor vehicle, bicycle or on foot. Some will never make it to the hospital.
