In this film, the mentally disabled actors and actresses of the Hora Theater talk about their lives, both in terms of their “dream world” and the reality. The documentary film sequences, in colour, refer to the black-and-white scenes from the play “Ansehen oder gsehsch mi?”, which takes its inspiration from the silent Charlie Chaplin film “City Lights”. Recognition, freedom, sexuality and love are central themes for the handicapped as much as for anyone. The world of the “normal” remains out of reach, even for such a simple matter as running your own house. There is something deeply moving about the directness of these unusual actors and actresses, both when reflecting on their own lives, and when acting on the stage.
