Distribution Support
Whether in cinemas or on VOD platforms: the Federal Office of Culture works together with SWISS FILMS to promote the global distribution of films made in Switzerland.
SWISS FILMS is responsible for handling this form of export promotion. Applications must be submitted to SWISS FILMS by the international distributor via the Swiss production company. The completed application form plus all the required enclosures must be submitted to SWISS FILMS (support@swissfilms.ch) no later than two months before the film's theatrical or VOD release in the target country. The deadline is the 15th day of each month. The application will be assessed by an expert with knowledge of the respective distribution markets.

Notes on eligibility for support:
Applications can be made for films that
- have a running time of at least 60 minutes;
- initial theatrical release in Switzerland must not have been more than 24 months ago;
- qualify as a Swiss film or official Swiss-international co-production with Swiss director and responsible Swiss producer attached;
- are intended for initial theatrical release or distribution via a digital platform; and
- have no access to the European Union's MEDIA programme distribution measures.
