Salomé Jashi

Salomé Jashi, born 1981 in Tbilisi, studied journalism and worked as a reporter for several years. In 2005 she received a scholarship from the British Council to study documentary film at the Royal Holloway University in London. She then founded the production company Sakdoc Film in Tbilisi with friends. Her film THE DAZZLING LIGHT OF SUNSET (2016) was awarded the main prize of the Visions du Réel Regard Neuf competition and at ZagrebDox, Jihlava IDFF, Valdivia IDFF and various other festivals. BAKHMARO (2011) received an honourable mention for an outstanding young film at DOK Leipzig and was awarded as best Central- and Eastern European documentary film at Jihlava IDFF and was nominated for the Asia Pacific Screen Awards and the Silver Eye Awards. Salomé Jashi lives in Tiblisi and Berlin.
