Mirjam Skal is a composer and orchestrator based in Zurich, Switzerland. She holds a Master's degree in composition for film, theatre and media at the Zurich University of the Arts and has been working as a freelance composer over the past years. Her work includes music for the national Swiss television, such as Bettina Oberlis newest limited series EMMA LÜGT, several documentaries, advertisements and animated shorts. As a synesthete, Mirjam‘s approach to composing is very intuitive. She is fascinated by combining live instruments with electronic soundscapes to create evocative textures. In 2021 Mirjam was a participant in Berlinale Talents. In addition, Mirjam has been chosen to be part of the AWFC Mentorship program 2021 under the guidance of renowned composer Mychael Danna (LIFE OF PI). Following the mentorship, Mirjam has had the opportunity to compose additional music alongside Mychael Danna for the feature film WHERE THE CRAWDADS SING.
