Krzysztof Kieslowski

Krzysztof Kieslowski (* 1941 in Warsaw; † 1996 ibid.) studied at the Lódz Film Academy until 1968. He began as a documentary filmmaker and became the main representative of the socially critical "cinema of moral unrest" in the mid-1970s with the feature film THE FILMMAMAKER. The film BLIND CHANCE, shot in 1981, was banned and not shown until 1987. Kieslowski became internationally known for his film cycles DEKALOG and THREE COLORS (Blue, White, Red). Kieslowski is one of the most important European filmmakers of the late 20th century.
