Le Silvesterchlausen est une tradition mystérieuse qui se déroule tous les soirs de la Saint-Sylvestre dans l'Appenzell, la région la plus conservatrice de Suisse. Des groupes de six hommes revêtent des costumes ornés et se livrent à un jodel polyphonique sans paroles et à un tintement rythmique de cloches. Ce rituel est pratiqué depuis au moins cinq cents ans, mais personne ne sait comment ni pourquoi il a commencé.
