«Ichliebemich» (Je m'aime) désigne la force qui nous tient en vie, qui nous pousse en avant et nous enjoint de chercher. Nous cherchons l'essentiel, et où pourrions-nous le chercher si ce n'est dans ce que nous créons? Dans le film, nous suivons Alex Sadkowsky, un homme qui a beaucoup créé: de la musique, des tableaux, une famille, et maintenant un roman (Die chinesische Wespe). C'est un rapport sur le voyage entrepris par un homme en recherche. Le film nous conduit à travers des paysages exotiques, réels ou inventés, et se caractérise par de nombreuses et bizarres inspirations soudaines.
