Un directeur d'hôtel passionné est obsédé par l'affirmation d'une voyante, selon laquelle il porte la culpabilité de l'incendie non élucidé de son légendaire Grand Hôtel. Pour se libérer de ce fardeau, il tente, avec l'aide d'un inspecteur de police perspicace, de démasquer un ancien employé comme l'incendiaire. Cela le place lui-même dans le viseur de ses propres enquêtes et il est confronté à la vérité.
