Un petit village à la frontière turquo-syrienne au début des années 80: Sero, un garçon kurde de six ans, passe sa première année scolaire au sein d’une école arabe et assiste au changement radical de son petit monde dans un contexte de nationalisme absurde. Avec un goût subtil pour l’humour et la satire, le film raconte une enfance qui, tiraillée entre dictature et drame, trouve malgré tout des moments heureux.
