A mountain guide based in Chamonix, François Damilano is the author of books and articles on mountaineering. After taking part as a high-level mountaineer in numerous films and television programmes (Carnets de l'Aventure, Montagne, Ushuaïa, Des Racines et des Ailes), he took up the camera to make his own documentaries. His films seek to reconcile his experience as a mountaineer with a reflection on the motivations that drive his characters. François Damilano was on the summit of Everest in 2014 and on Nanga Parbat in 2023, alongside Sophie Lavaud.
