Dans le huis clos de ce chantier exceptionnel, le film fait le portrait au temps présent d’une société en miniature, portée par un objectif commun: la construction de salles de cinéma pour le siècle qui vient. De l’architecte aux compagnons charpentiers, du chef de chantier au patron du groupe Pathé, du concepteur des enceintes aux futurs projectionnistes, le film dresse le portrait vivant de cette société, à hauteur humaine.
