La marmotte Murmler et son père creusent pour construire leur terrier. Surgissent des souris qui leur prêtent main forte. Murmler trouve leur présence désagréable dans un premier temps, mais il finit par tomber amoureux de Jenni, la fille souris. Elle l’aide à surmonter ses craintes.
