Une jeune mère, Alice et sa fille Kate, partent passer du temps en forêt pour se retrouver. Lors d'une partie de cache-cache, la petite Kate disparait. Partant à sa recherche, Alice se retrouve progressivement dans un monde qui n'est pas le sien, se perdant dans les méandres de ses propres souvenirs.
