Dans les Alpes suisses, un homme perd sa femme. De retour chez lui, sa vie devient une routine de survie. Les montagnes l'appellent d'un chant irrésistible. Un jour, aveuglé par l'illusion de la retrouver, il retourne sur les sommets enneigés. Alors qu'il atteint les limites entre la vie et la mort, son monde devient un mélange de souvenirs, de réalité et de fantaisie.
