Born in 1977 in Basel, Switzerland. 1999-2002 Attends HGK (Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst) Basel, Institute of Visual Communications. 2002 Receives degree from HGK. 2002-04 Works as designer in Munich. 2005-07 Works as assistant at HGK Basel, Institute of Visual Communications. He founded Dirk Koy Bild und Bewegung with a focus on experimental film and animation and has also been a lecturer for Time Based Media at the HGK Basel since 2011. In 2019 he received the Basel Media Art Prize for the work "ground". INTERSECT (2022) screened in Annecy’s competition.
