What Are We Fighting For? is a 2022 documentary dance film of a choreographic process from 2020-2021 forced online due to Covid-19 travel restrictions and isolation. The Swiss choreographer József Trefeli was invited to create a choreographic work for New Zealand Dance Company (NZDC) for the 2022 Swiss dance festival STEPS. Embracing the lockdown situation József continued creating with four NZDC dancers through video-conference adding four dancers from his own Company in Switzerland. Together with Bartek Sozanski they documented the choreographic process overcoming the pandemic to bring together on screen eight dancers who are physically separated at a distance of 18'599km.
