Hans Trommer
Screenwriter, Director
1904-89. He studied music and volunteered in the theatre before assisting film directors such as Richard Oswald and Joe May in Germany. In the following years he directed a few short films before making his first feature film, Romeo and Juliet in the Village (1941), based on the short story by Gottfried Keller, which is considered his most important work. Thereafter, Trommer worked mainly as a documentary filmmaker and did not make another feature film until 1958.
