Die Grafikerin Stephanie, die von einer kreativen Schaffenskrise und Selbstzweifeln geplagt wird, ist fasziniert von John Heartfields Werk, das sie in einer Ausstellung entdeckt. Durch einen Zeittunnel landet sie in einem Atelier, wo der zur Trickfigur gewordene Künstler sie auf eine Reise durch sein bewegtes Leben mitnimmt. Es entwickelt sich zwischen den beiden Kollegen eine liebevolle Freundschaft. Und Stephanie nimmt wieder Schere und Papier in die Hand.
