Neun Unerschrockene Dorfbewohner:innen raufen sich zusammen und pilgern mit zwei Eseln, ihrer Dorfheiligen und dem lokalen Filmemacher nach Rom. Ihr Ziel: Eine Audienz beim Papst. Er ist ihre letzte Hoffnung, das einsturzgefährdete Pfarrhaus zu retten.
