Elise, die in einem Altersheim wohnt, merkt, dass sie immer weniger Kontrolle über ihr Leben hat. Alzheimer nimmt ihr das Verhältnis zur Realität und lässt ihr nur einige Bruchstücke ihrer Vergangenheit. Die Anwesenheit ihrer Tochter ist der einzige Anker, der Elise in der Realität festhält, aber diese Verbindung löst sich langsam auch.
